Consecrated 1870 · Brighouse, West Yorkshire
No. 1301
A cornerstone of brotherhood, integrity, and community service in West Yorkshire for over 155 years.
Our History
Brighouse Lodge No. 1301 was consecrated in 1870, after local Freemasons gathered to establish a new lodge in the town. The Grand Master in London granted a Warrant of Constitution, formally bringing our lodge into existence under the United Grand Lodge of England.
The lodge first met in private rooms on Bradford Road, Brighouse, before moving to its beloved current home — the Assembly Rooms at 64 Briggate — in 1907. For over a century, we have upheld a tradition of fellowship and community service, earning a proud reputation as a friendly, progressive, and welcoming lodge within the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.
Our Four Core Values
As set out by the United Grand Lodge of England
Acting with honesty, honour, and trustworthiness in all aspects of life — inside the lodge and out in the world.
Our Foundation →Building lasting bonds across all backgrounds, professions, and generations through shared purpose and fellowship.
At Our Core →Recognising the dignity and worth of every individual, regardless of background, belief, or circumstance.
How We Act →Contributing meaningfully to the community, to charitable causes, and to the lives of those around us.
Our Purpose →The Craft
Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest and most respected fraternal organisations. It promotes moral and personal development through symbolic rituals rooted in the traditions of the medieval stonemasons who built our castles and cathedrals.
At its heart, Freemasonry is about building character. It provides a structure for members to come together under common values — enabling people to make new friendships, develop themselves, and contribute to charitable causes. At Brighouse Lodge, these principles come alive through our ceremonies, our charitable work, and our fellowship.
Freemasonry has no political affiliation and is not a religion. Members are entirely free to hold any faith. Membership is open to men over the age of 18 from all backgrounds — irrespective of race or religion.
